Our Story.

In 1953 Korean Immigrants who settled in Boston formed a church. In 1989 they began a worship service in English for students who had grown up in America. In September of 2003 this ministry was chartered as a brand new church called Bethany Presbyterian Church.

We are excited about our heritage here at Bethany but we are more excited about our future. Our name Bethany means "house of poverty." We desire to own this identity living as a community of broken, honest, and genuine people. We long to find God's grace together in our worship and activities.

We want to be a church that welcomes people of all ethnicities and culture. God's word declares that people of all ethnicities will worship Him together one day. Our church heritage means many of us look Asian, but don't let that be a determining factor in choosing to join our community. We want to be centered on our need for God over all other identities.

We are committed to discipleship - a word which means to become a follower. We want to be followers of Jesus Christ, to become like Him as we believe Jesus is the answer to this life and the life to come. We believe that in following Christ we're called to live for God's purposes, living out this mission at our workplace, in our families, and on our campuses. Anywhere God has placed us we're called to live as His examples so that others might know God loves them.

By no means as Christians do we have it all together, and definitely as a church we are far from being who we would like to be. But in our broken condition and in our desperate need for God and each other, we pray God would grow us and use us.
